dell used to be cool.

ah ha! so dell finally shipped my new toy. ah-um; i mean my new phone. i have bought 4 computers and misc. software/hardware from dell and this was the worst service i have ever had from them. i havent had to speak to their customer service in a few years. WOW i hope i never have to speak to them again. i would be on the phone for 40+ minutes and seriously talk to at least 10 or more different people; and not get anywhere!! its like a circle of reps. they just pass you on to the next guy one right after the other! so annoying!

i sure am glad i paid extra for next day air. it better come tomorrow! just in case your wondering whats coming my way, ill say it again. a nokia n95 8gig. big deal you say? well maybe, it can certainlly do more than my blackberry pearl 8120 ever thought of doing.

i heard that dell is going to jump back into the mobile market again. didnt they just quit this area not too long ago? thats probably why they took so long to get my stuff together. they dont want me to buy nokia. they want me to buy dell. sorry dell!! dont think ill be doing business with you anymore! more on my fiasco later. i dont feel like talking about it again!

my cell dilema

i mentioned before, um like 20 minutes ago that i was unpatiently waiting for my n95 8gb to arrive. my wife is going to kill me. hopefully after she has my new/old blackberry pearl 8120 for a week or so she might not be all that mad. i have been bitten with the mobile tech addiction syndrom.

three months ago i didnt even have a cell phone. in fact two months ago was my first cell in like 5 years. i had my share of different shapes and size computers, wired and wireless devices, but i didnt want to be bothered by a phone. i didnt want that accountability of having to answer it when it rang.

well i finally broke down and signed a two year contract with tmobile and got the new blackberry pearl 8120; the one with the wifi. i loved it ever since. asking my wife and co-workers they would say i was on crackberry. i’ve basically gone two months non-stop on this thing. it will almost do everything a computer will do. guess thats why they call them smartphones. well i’ve come to a point where i wanted more from it and it just wont give it. so i did a little research (ok, ok a lot of research) and came to the conclusion that i just had to have the nokia n95 8gb.

im hoping it’ll take longer than two months for me to become bored with it. especially considering this will probably be my last phone for a long time. because its soo darn expensive. but if i’ve done my homework right i should be pretty pleased. i mean i work hard for my money and i can easily justify buying it. although i have always said if you have to justify something then its probably wrong. hah!! more on this later!!

new to this.

so my first blog. i call it blahg because to me its just a place to put down some thoughts or literally WHATEVER. so add blah and blog to get blahg. maybe this should of been my first post but oh well.

there sure is a lot to this wordpress and the like. give me some time to figure it out. my computer time usually consist of formatting my harddrive between operating systems i think im going to start using “from now on” and not writing material anyone and there mother can look at. i think i got a D+ in english so be kind to my grammar.

im thinking this might be a tech type blog with some added bill’s life material in it. enjoy.

my “old school”

as i was sitting here unpatiently waiting for my n95 8gb to ship i was thinking of the good ole’ days of bbs’. anyone remember those? you know – the “internet” before the internet? where everything was text based. even the pictures.

i dont even remember how i came across that .txt file with all those local bbs numbers. but, i did come across it and somehow i figured out how to use windows terminal (win 3.11) to dial them up. i used to love downloading from the cd-roms they had on some of them. just tring out one program after another. sitting up all night tying up the phoneline with my 2400 bps modem.

i was approximately 14 then. i think i met like 5 girls from those things. my mom was too nice to take me to the mall or even the next state to meet some chick i met “online”. not that i was too much of a geek or some hideous looking person to meet a girl (offline hah!!) but i guess i was just umm too much of a geek to get off the computer to do that.

i used to use worldgroup bbs software to log on to another worldgroup bbs in turn using one of their paying customer lines so i could chat for free. i traded that old 2400 modem for the cracked worldgroup software when my dad felt bad for my super slow downloads and bought me a 28.8 bps modem.

life was easy then. susposed to be easier now isnt it? guess thats just what growing up means. leaving the past and moving on. comment anyone?

day 1

etarip = pirate backwards. easy as that. for those who always wondered what and why i have that name. i was trying to think of a cool and clever handle back in like 1995; give or take a year; for a some microsoft jet space game. soo thats where it came from.
